Be the Love you want to see in the World

February rolls in with hopes of longer days, warmer temps and the celebration of love!

Bob Goff says, “If you want to change the world, don’t be loud, be love”. Mere talk of changing the world doesn’t change anything. Real change comes from loving others better. I know I can’t change everything I’d like to see made different. I can, however, change my family, my community and my world (and myself) through small and consistent acts of love. How will you love others this month?

Heart shaped beaded keyring from South Africa

I believe handmade products are created with love.  When you shop fair trade, you are shopping with your heart and your values.  So, I urge you to do your Valentine’s/Galentine’s shopping with us this month and so be a small part of spreading love around our globe:

  • Made with Love

  • Given as an act of Love

  • Purchased with Love

In a world that’s increasingly divided and faced with so many struggles, the simple act of purchasing and giving a token of love to someone else can bring a little light and beauty to our world. You can be the love you want to see in the world.

Meet the Artisans - DuHope

The stories behind the products.

Abigail Holtz with DuHope founder Jamie Boiles

The Hope Shop in Rwanda

DuHope in Rwanda provides women with a sustainable way to make a living, education, childcare, and other necessary services. Before DuHope, these women sold their bodies to earn a meager living. Now, equipped with training in jewelry-making and soap-making, the women are given a dignified way to earn a living and provide for themselves and their children.

Two years ago, our very own Abigail Holtz (Elevat Community Engagement ) was in Kilgali, Rwanda visiting DuHope. She was able to visit their Hope Shop and had the opportunity to meet their founder and director, Jamie Boiles. After getting a behind the scenes tour and meeting the staff and artisans who make DuHope possible, Abigail was thrilled to bring home beautiful new products to share with our Elevāt community!
