Part of Upavim in La Esperanza, Guatemala, Chonita is a group of Tzʼutujil Mayan artisans. The Chonita women make beautiful jewelry to feed their families. Additionally, a portion of the profits from each Chonita purchase feeds elders in the community and provides scholarships so children can go to school.

Upavim provides women in this community a safe place to be by employing many of them so they can support themselves and their families. Upavim also provides education and other services to the La Esperanza community and neighboring communities.

This three-strand bracelet is made with wooden beads, glass seed beads and soft jingling bells. The macrame strand allows the bracelet to expand as needed. Fits wrist sizes from 6” to 10 ¼”.
