Yes, Plus Beads was founded by Julia Karugi while living in the Vumilia community, a former Internationally Displaced Persons Camp in Kenya. This project supports her and other women who have very few opportunities to earn money for their families. They use recycled materials like magazines, coconut shells and bones to create unique jewelry.
